Mary Elizabeth Truss who is well-known as Liz Truss was born in Oxford, England, to parents John Kenneth and Priscilla Mary Truss (née Grasby).

When Truss later ran as a Conservative for election to Parliament, her mother agreed to run a campaign for her while her father declined.
When Truss was four years old, her family relocated to Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. They stayed there from 1979 to 1985, during which time Truss attended West Primary School.
After that, she spent a year in Canada. In contrast to her experience at Roundhay School, Truss has lauded its coherent curriculum and the Canadian mindset that it was “very excellent to be top of the class.”
She completed her studies in philosophy, politics, and economics at Merton College in Oxford in 1996.
Liz Truss worked at Shell from 1996 to 2000, during which time she earned her Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) certification in 1999.
Truss joined Reform as a full-time deputy director in January 2008 after losing her first two elections. There, she pushed for higher academic standards in schools, a stronger emphasis on combating serious and organized crime, and immediate action to address Britain’s declining competitiveness.

Before she was named by Cameron to the Cabinet as Secretary of State for the Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs during the 2014 cabinet reshuffle, Truss served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Childcare and Education from 2012 to 2014.
She backed the Britain Stronger in Europe movement, which favored the UK’s continued membership in the EU, during the 2016 referendum, although she later backed Brexit.
Truss became the first female Lord Chancellor in the 1,000-year history of the position when she was appointed Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor by May following Cameron’s resignation in July 2016.
Truss was chosen to serve as the Treasury’s chief secretary after the 2017 presidential election. Truss endorsed Johnson’s ambition to lead the Conservatives when May announced her resignation in 2019.
